I've often wondered, what future societies would think of the archaeological remains of our current society. I think we'll be considered unbelievably messy and also probably 8 feet tall judging by the size of our lintels.
There was a really cool book that touched on this theme too. It was called Diplomacy of Wolves.
I'll look that book up!
As for what the future will think of us, I think you're right. We've probably lost all chance of preventing our time from being known as The Garbage Age.
Although, I supposed we could also be dubbed The Plastic Age. At this point it's kind of a toss-up.
